Update on Jubilee
Here is a note from RJ on Jubilee (from Chloe’s litter):
Well it’s been a little while so I figured I would give an update. Jubilee is doing great!! She is down to half a steroid pill a day and if she continues to do well she should be done sometime in March. Jubilee has rejoined playtime (Yeah!!) and still continues to play nice with everyone. I wouldn’t have figured that a short haired dog would love the snow as much as she does. She will just run, jump, and dig as much as she can till her feet get cold. Then will run up to door to be let in and as soon as her feet are warm she will ask to go right back out. It’s just great to have her back to her old(young) self again and being the puppy she should be.
I look forward to seeing you guys at the Water-bowl when you can make it
and would love to read some updates on Jubilee’s family.
Take Care

Sugar looks 90% Labrador
A wonderful update on Sugar (from Willow’s litter)…90% lab isn’t bad for a rescue puppy!!
Hello,
Just a little update on Sugar, she is doing great, she just started puppy classes and did very well. All her other classmates were tiny breed dogs and I told my husband Sugar looked like Clifford the Big Red Dog.She is super dog and people friendly and doesn’t understand why everyone does not want to play with her. She is into everything, we cannot turn our backs for one minute. She too like Koda found her way on top of tables, we keep referring to her as Marley. I am curious to know how her litter mates are doing, size of them and how they look. Sugar keeps growing and growing, she is about 35 lbs. at almost 16 weeks and her color has gotten a little more golden yellow. My vet says she looks 90% Lab but her ears are much longer than a labs. I will try to send some pictures when I learn how to attach to my e-mails– I am not very computer savy. I would like to attend some puppy playtimes, but it is just a little too far.

Update on puppy Jubilee
Here is an update on Jubilee (from Chloe’s group)…
Jubilee went for her last shots last night and She is now 27 pounds!! It is so funny how much she has change in the short time we have had her. Jubilee sleeps through most nights but does wake up every now and again because of her pack mates. They like to get up and move from spot to spot and that wakes her up. She still goes on two walks a day and the vet said it shows in her legs. She is very good at the vet, just as mellow as can be.
And and I really enjoy the puppy playtime at Petco with her litter mates and are hoping we can continue with you guys after they are 6 months old. Amanda was telling me we could continue it at Kristin’s other place she works at (the Water Bowl in Geneva). Its really neat how they get to continue to bond with one another.

The only bad habit we need to break Jubilee of is digging!! Even after all the long walks, playing fetch, and wrestling with her pack mates… she still wants to dig in the back yard if your not watching her. When I watch her she loves to chase flying bugs. I’m starting to think when the bug lands she is trying to find it in the grass and starts digging for it. She loves anything that flys like bug, birds, and planes. Sometimes I think she is part pointer. She will follow something stop and lift one of her front paws and stare. Its pretty funny.
Update on puppy Koda
Here is a note received from Koda’s family (from Chloe’s group)…
Koda had also received the last of his vaccinations. He weighed in at 32lbs.! He is shedding his soft fuzzy fur
and is growing a longer coarse hair down his back and tail.
We enjoyed the pics of Angel. She is so cute! We hope to come to another playtime soon. We also are getting in the back to school routine.
I still would love to know the dominate breed of these pups….foxhound may be a possibility….some are white with beige also. People think Koda is a golden retriever and I just tell them its a going to be a “surprise” what he will grow up to be. He’s got the look of collie, chow, lab, retriever….you name it! I love that they all have the white tip on the tail and white paws like Chloe.
Koda is just a sweetheart. We have settled into a nice routine. He is no longer in his crate at night and we block him off in the kitchen when we leave during the day. So far he has done well. He has eight of his adult teeth and looks so cute with his big boy teeth!
However, he has developed a problem with “submissive urinating”. When one of us comes home or someone comes over or he sees another dog he gets so excited that he pees. The doctor said he will grow out of it. He said not to make a big deal about coming home, have people bend down to him, and build up his confidence with other dogs. It seems to me he is pretty well adjusted and confident, so it may be he’s just too happy…??
So, Kristin any suggestions …….? Your last post had to do with urinating…so I just had to ask : )
Hope you are enjoying some time to yourself and your family.
Koda visits Puppy Playtime
Koda (formerly Aster of Chloe’s group) came all the way out to Geneva Illinois to participate in my free puppy playtime at Petco…He had a blast and appearently slept the entire rest of the day! Here’s some photos.
Puppy update on Koda
Here is an update on of Koda (formerly Aster), from Chloe’s litter…
Attached are some pics my daughter took today. Koda (Aster) looks like he’s already losing his “baby face”. His coat has become a little longer and a little darker. His white stripe down his nose seems to appear and disappear. Its amazing the changes in just a couple weeks. Do any of the other pups have the fluffy coat? I thought Lily might…they looked so similar.
As far as biting goes, I have a 8 year old son also, we find it useful to have a blanket or beach towel handy. Mostly to protect our legs when we sit on the floor with him. He likes to play fetch with his stuffed animals. We have a stuffed toy at arms reach at all times, so when he tries to bite us we say “No Bite” and praise him when we give him the stuffed toy. Matt and Koda have begun a relationship of playing chase. I am trying to control this somehow so that it doesn’t become a bad behavior and just a game. If Koda gets too wound up or overtired he will bite more, then playtime is over. We leave him to chew on his toys or “Kong” (what a nice toy!) and to settle down.
He seems to have selected hearing sometimes and will not come when called….he’s too caught up in discovering things. His new game is to hide behind the bushes and play “catch me if you can.” He peeks out and then runs behind another bush. I’m not liking that game so much! : ) He loves watching the birds in the morning. I have enjoyed sitting outside with my morning coffee watching him getting to know his world.
Potty training is going well….just a few accidents. Either my fault for not paying attention…or he is too wound up in playing. He has ran to the door a few times and goes to the door when you ask him if he wants to go out.
He also is doing well with the crate at night. We haven’t left him much during the day.
We have had a few puppy playdates with my niece’s 14 week old boxer. He seems to enjoy that. I would love to come to Puppy Playtime at Petco to see his siblings.
Updates on Chloe’s pups
Brief snippets in no particular order:
William: My name is M-, and my husband L- and my sons adopted William. He is still William. We had been calling him that for so long before we brought him home that it just stuck. He finally slept through the night last night (11 pm to 5:30 am.) No accidents in the house today, and the biting improved 100% over yesterday (Thanks, Kristin for your advice.) I should let you know that our vet thinks maybe there’s some Great Pyrenees in there. William will be a much bigger dog than we thought we wanted, but we sure do love him already!

Jackson: Although he cried (at times actually yelped, whimpered, barked, howled, etc.) the first couple of nights, he now sleeps peacefully from about 11:00 pm to about 6:00 am. He naps willingly in the crate, and is waiting there happily and quietly when I go and get him in the morning.
He is a fairly cautious pup, and only feels really comfortable in two rooms of the house, but that is fine with us for now. He loves the backyard, and prefers to play in the shade. He digs in the grass, and chews up wet muddy clumps of grass, then digs his paws in the muddy spot left behind in the yard. Not one of his best traits, but we’re working on it. He has met several neighborhood dogs, both big and small, and has done great with all of them.
Like most of the other puppies, when he gets excited and really wants to play, he nips quite a bit. At first, the high pitched puppy-like yelp we made stopped him in his tracks, but now he’s become almost used to it. We try and give a stern “no bite!” and distract him with something else. He doesn’t nip as much, but when he’s excited he definitely still wants to.
When he was really young, you could almost not tell the difference between Jackson and his sister Poppy, but Jackson has what I call a white thunderbolt up between his eyes to his forehead. The kids call it his notch. Sadly, I think it’s fading and might be gone soon, but you never know. We’d love for it to stay. It’s one of our favorite parts of him. We get many comments from people wondering what type of dog he “is”, and I tell everyone about his 4 siblings who are white and tan and look nothing like him, and about Poppy and Violet who resemble him much more. Who knows who that daddy dog was? We really have no idea how big he’ll get to be, but it’s fun to wonder, and time will tell. His mostly black fur is also turning much more reddish brown in parts, like his ears and most of his cheeks. That’s a cute similarity to Chloe. He has beautiful markings overall, and is still adorable as he changes from tiny puppy to bigger pup.
We went to the puppy playtime from 2:00 – 3:00 pm on Saturday at Kristin’s Geneva, IL Petco store, and it was really fun to see him romp around with two of his sister pups. Most of all, that’s what I hope we can do more often. Seeing him with his littermates, pups the very same size as him, his brothers and sisters, is really heartwarming.

Lily: Some things we found that have worked is a tick tocking clock to simulate her momma heartbeat, right next to the crate at night. Either Lily has taken to the crate or in combo with the clock, she sleeps so nicely!! I think along with several other puppies she has taken very well to potty training, no accidents in the house for 6 days and counting. We do give her tiny little nibbles of a treat for going potty, and it seems to work.
Also on Saturday we have taken her to the puppy playtime with Kristin at Petco and she loves it. This last week Jubilee and Jackson were there and it was so nice to see them all remembering each other and Ryan was there too and that was fun to watch them interact with him. I have a nephew who is Ryan’s age and he met her yesterday and I think because of Ryan, Lily let him carry her everywhere practically choking her, but she didn’t even care. Her little tail was wagging the whole time.

I took Lily to the vet today for her 9-week checkup and she too is 12 lbs and parasite free, yeah!! We are having the issues with biting also. I bought some bitter bite spray to spray the chair legs and it doesn’t work. She bites what she wants to regardless of the bitter taste, so don’t waste your money.
