Training classes offered.
Would you like to train with me? These classes are held at the Water Bowl in Geneva IL – call (630) 232-9193 for more information.

Leash Manners – Friday 5:30-6:30 pm ($100.00) – Many dogs pull on leash because they and their owners don’t know how to handle the leash.  This 4-session class works on basic leash skills, covers the variety of “walking tools” available (head halti, easy walk harness, prong and martingale collars) and determines what tool might be right for you.  We also practice walking skills out in public in order to master any problems that may come up.

Regular Obedience – Friday 6:30-7:30 pm  ($150.00) – This is the class for beginners of obedience training or for those interested in brushing up their skills.  Positive reinforcement and treat luring is used to teach the dog a variety of skills including sit, down, stay, recall, heeling exercises and a few tricks.  This 6-week class also leaves time to address individual issues.  This class is intended for dogs 6 months and of age and older.

Puppy Obedience – Friday 7:30-8:30 pm ($150.00) – It is never too early to begin training your pup!  This 6-week class covers the basics of positive reinforcement training.  It will build your puppy’s confidence and begin to develop a strong level of trust between you and your dog.  This class is for puppies 2 to 6 months of age.

Canine Good Citizen Class – $150.00 – This 6-week class will prepare you to take the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test.   This award is given to owners who show responsible pet ownership and to their dog who exhibits behaviors that show they are reliable, well behaved members of their communities.  There will be an opportunity to take the Canine Good Citizen Exam after the last class session.

Treadmill Training – Consultations by Individual Appointment  ($60.00) – A great skill for your dog to have during those cold winter months!  Our trainer will use positive reinforcement and treat lures to get the dog onto the treadmill and comfortable with the movement.  She will also instruct you on how to practice the skill with your dog at home.  The class includes:

In-Home Training – This option works well for those who have multiple dogs, busy schedules or simply prefer to have the trainer work with you and your dog in your own home.  A set of general obedience skills can be taught or you may choose the issues you want addressed.  One of the main benefits includes the opportunity to work with “real life” situations; for example, reactions to door bells, staying in your yard, or excitement with guests.  Classes are held once a week.

Socialization Opportunities – These FREE social hours are supervised by the trainer with the owners in attendance.  This offers the owners an opportunity to learn about good doggy play manners, how to identify when play becomes more serious and needs intervention, and how to redirect annoying (obsessive) play behaviors.  The dogs also have an opportunity to socialize with many different dogs and people.  Owners will need to bring vaccination records (Distemper, bordatella, rabies & clear fecal) as required for all animals entering The Water Bowl play areas.

Drop-Off Training – Do you want a well trained dog but lack the time to actually do the bulk of the training?  Then this is the option for you!  The trainer will train your dog while the dog is either boarding or at daycare.   The dog will practice in half-hour increments, once a day, throughout their stay.  You set the goals for training and reap the benefits.  The trainer will meet with the owner for the first half hour to set training goals and learn the basics of training.  After the training, they will meet again to assess progress toward the goals and to review how to continue the practice.

All classes will be held on either Wednesday or Friday evenings between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm. Current vaccination records indicating up to date distemper, bordatella, and rabies vaccinations as well as a clear fecal test are required.
