Puppy update on Koda
Here is an update on of Koda (formerly Aster), from Chloe’s litter…

Attached are some pics my daughter took today. Koda (Aster) looks like he’s already losing his “baby face”. His coat has become a little longer and a little darker. His white stripe down his nose seems to appear and disappear. Its amazing the changes in just a couple weeks. Do any of the other pups have the fluffy coat? I thought Lily might…they looked so similar.
As far as biting goes, I have a 8 year old son also, we find it useful to have a blanket or beach towel handy. Mostly to protect our legs when we sit on the floor with him. He likes to play fetch with his stuffed animals. We have a stuffed toy at arms reach at all times, so when he tries to bite us we say “No Bite” and praise him when we give him the stuffed toy. Matt and Koda have begun a relationship of playing chase. I am trying to control this somehow so that it doesn’t become a bad behavior and just a game. If Koda gets too wound up or overtired he will bite more, then playtime is over. We leave him to chew on his toys or “Kong” (what a nice toy!) and to settle down.
He seems to have selected hearing sometimes and will not come when called….he’s too caught up in discovering things. His new game is to hide behind the bushes and play “catch me if you can.” He peeks out and then runs behind another bush. I’m not liking that game so much! : ) He loves watching the birds in the morning. I have enjoyed sitting outside with my morning coffee watching him getting to know his world.
Potty training is going well….just a few accidents. Either my fault for not paying attention…or he is too wound up in playing. He has ran to the door a few times and goes to the door when you ask him if he wants to go out.
He also is doing well with the crate at night. We haven’t left him much during the day.
We have had a few puppy playdates with my niece’s 14 week old boxer. He seems to enjoy that. I would love to come to Puppy Playtime at Petco to see his siblings.
